File a complaint with " The Office of the Inspector General can only take reports related to Social Security benefit misuse!"To whom it may concern: "I work for the Social Security Administration's Office of the Inspector General, and today I located your website. I would like to notify you of incorrect information. The Office of the Inspector General does not take reports of identity theft. On April 28, 2003, Congress designated the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to take reports of identity theft. The Office of the Inspector General can only take reports related to Social Security benefit misuse. Unfortunately, we have been having a very hard time taking these reports because of the large volume of identity theft calls that we receive. The only thing that we can tell callers who are reporting identity theft is to call the FTC . Thank you very much for taking the time to read my email. Sincerely, J.
